Website design involves planning and creating the visual layout and user experience of a website before development, focusing on structure, colour, typography, and navigation to ensure it is both attractive and easy to use. During my BTEC Level 2 Web Development course, I developed my skills using Figma, where I created wireframes, page layouts, and interactive prototypes to test user navigation before coding. My main project, HugPups, is a website for a dog rental service, where I designed the full site including pages such as Home, Rent a Dog, Meet the Team, Testimonials, and Contact, with a focus on a friendly visual style, clear structure, and consistent design throughout. Through this work, I developed key skills in layout planning, colour selection, typography, and design consistency, as well as using wireframes to organise ideas efficiently, and I continue to improve by working on new projects and exploring advanced features in Figma..
Arranging elements on a page to create clear visual hierarchy and structure.
Using colour palettes effectively to communicate mood and engage visitors.
Selecting and pairing fonts to improve readability and design quality.
Designing with the user in mind to create intuitive, accessible interfaces.
I use these tools throughout my design process, from initial wireframes to finished high-fidelity mockups.
My primary design tool for wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes throughout my BTEC course.
I use Visual Studio Code as my code editor when moving from design into development.
Below are examples of design work I have completed, including my HugPups project designed in Figma.
